FW01 Malmö pendant - Ceiling lights

The MALMÖ cocoon pendant is a true mid-century classic, originally designed by the legendary Fritz Wauer and produced in the 1950s by his lighting company, Goldkant. Fritz Wauer pioneered the groundbreaking cocoon technique in 1952 after reading a newspaper article about how the U.S. military used a liquid polymer thread to preserve World War II equipment being shipped across the Atlantic. As a lampshade manufacturer, Fritz had already patented a technology for producing tension-free metal wire frames. He immediately saw an opportunity to combine the two technologies to create new and innovative lamp designs. Over his career, Fritz Wauer designed more than 400 cocoon lamps, and original vintage pieces often sell for several thousand euros at auction. We are working closely with his heirs to reintroduce these exceptional designer lamps to the world.
